Kern Joseph Comeaux

New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Kern Joseph Comeaux, 83, who died Monday, January 6, 2014, in Lafayette. Interment will follow in the Broussard Cemetery. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 10:30 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 11:30 AM. A native of Coteau, Mr. Comeaux was born on August 18, 1930, and retired from Teledyne Movable Offshore after 28 years of service. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Member, and was past chairman of the Knights of Columbus Fishing Rodeo. His hobbies included gardening, going to the casino, and camping. Mr. Comeaux is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Joyce Saunier Comeaux of New Iberia; children, Kermit James Mousey Comeaux and wife Beth of New Iberia, Randy Steve Comeaux and wife Mary of Leroy, Liz Comeaux Touchet and husband Wayne of Abbeville; grandchildren, Shane Michael Comeaux and wife Van of Lafayette, Ashlee Gary and husband Chad of New Iberia, Steven Randal Comeaux of Lafayette, Jessica Hebert and husband Danson of Duson, Ben Segura and wife Jennifer of California, Victoria Richard and husband Kelly Richard, Jr., of Maurice; brothers, Merlin Comeaux of Coteau, R.J. Comeaux, Jr., and wife Earline of Maurice, Roy Comeaux and wife Betsy of New Iberia, Fred Comeaux and companion Gloria of Lake Charles; sisters, Thelma Lemaire of Lafayette, Stella Larson of New Iberia, Laura Maorange of Maurice; 8 great grandchildren, and 5 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raoul Comeaux, Sr., and Agnes Babineaux Comeaux; brothers and sisters, Lovelace Comeaux, Marianne Comeaux, Ada Murphy, Rena Comeaux, Herman Comeaux, Sr., Patrick Comeaux, Jane Foreman; 1 great granddaughter, 1 step granddaughter, and his beloved pet dog, Lacy. Pallbearers will be Kermit Comeaux, Randy Comeaux, Ben Segura, Shane Comeaux, Steven Comeaux, and Wayne Touchet. Honorary pallbearers include Chad Gary, Kelly Richard, Jr., and Danson Hebert.
