Lafayette Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Monday, November 18, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Lafayette, for Kris Manuel Melancon, 52, who passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:30 am until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue at 9:00 am until 12:15 pm on Monday.
A rosary will be recited by Deacon Nelson Schexnayder at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Church will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Lainey Richard and Leslie Parker Bienvenu. Gift Bearers will be Gabrielle Gibson and Alexah Stutes.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Kris was a very kind, loving, and generous man. He was always ready to give a helping hand to whoever needed one. He was loved by all who knew him, due to his caring and kind-hearted nature. Other than his family, his other passion was hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed wood working, which led him to build a beautiful camp where he loved to spend time with family and friends. Kris was a graduate from Lafayette High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana now ULL. He worked his entire career as a Petroleum Landman in the oil and gas industry.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Richard Melancon; his father, Clarence Melancon and his companion, Sara Kaylor; his sons, Kyle Stutes and his fianc, Dawn Bearb and Tyler Stutes and his fianc, Carly Jones; his daughter, Dawn Stutes Gibson and her husband, Brian; his brother, Kip Melancon and his wife, Cathy; his father-in-law, Daniel Richard; his mother-in-law, Florence "Flo" Richard; his godfather, Dana Spencer and his wife, Sherry; his nephews, Easton Melancon and Colton Melancon; his cousins, Ted Melancon, Dale Melancon, Leah, Chris and Emma Jane Guidry, Emily and Brad Melancon, and Glenn LeBlanc; and his grandchildren, Gabrielle "GiGi" Gibson and Alexah "Lex" Stutes.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Delores Cormier Melancon; and his godmother, Alice Farci.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Stutes, Tyler Stutes, Brian Gibson, Kip Melancon, Easton Melancon, Colton Melancon, and Dana Spencer.
