Laida T. Berard

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Laida T. Berard, 89, who passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. 
 
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday from 7:30 am until 10:45 am.  
 
Father Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Laida worked as a custodian for the St. Martin Parish School Board for over 20 years. She had a passion for cooking and she cherished the many times spent with her family for gatherings. Laida also enjoyed camping and drinking coffee with her husband at Diesi's Little Capitol in Henderson. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. 
 
She is survived by her son, Joseph "Wayne" Berard (Patricia); daughter, Cheryl Robin; grandchildren, Shawn Robin, Rusty Berard (Kelly) and Jade Doucet (Greg); great-grandchildren, Ava, Ayden, Thomas, Ella, Jack, and Kyler; sister, Georgia Boutte; and her brother, Carrol Thomassee. 
 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester J. Berard; parents, Louis Thomassee, Sr. and Amanda Angelle Thomassee; brothers, Ernest Thomassee, Louis Thomassee, Jr., Nolan Thomassee, Gerald Thomassee and Paul Thomassee; and her sisters, Marie Lillie Zeringue and Sue Guidry. 

Pallbearers will be Wayne Berard, Rusty Berard, Shawn Robin, Greg Doucet and Mike Zeringue.
