New Iberia - Funeral services will be held for Larrey Goode Mouton, Sr., 84, at 10:00 am, on Saturday September 5, 2026, at Pellerin Funeral Home, who passed away peacefully at his home on August 26, 2026. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Larrey was born on September 13, 1941, and passed just shy of his 85th birthday. He graduated from Northwestern State University in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. In 1964, he entered the United States Army, serving in the First Armored Division and attaining the rank of First Lieutenant before being honorably discharged in 1969. He earned his certification as a Certified Public Accountant in 1972 and went on to build a distinguished career in banking and finance.
Larrey’s career took him to banking institutions in Baton Rouge and Panama City, Fla. before eventually bringing him to New Iberia, where he would make lasting contributions to the local banking community. He joined Iberia Savings and Loan Association, serving on its Board of Directors and as Secretary-Treasurer, with responsibility for banking operations and investments. In 1994, he was elected President.
During Larrey’s tenure, the institution experienced a period of significant growth and transformation. He led the initiative to form ISB Financial Corporation, which completed its initial public offering in April 1995 and became publicly traded on the NASDAQ. As the institution grew beyond its beginnings as a traditional savings and loan, Larrey oversaw the transition from Iberia Savings Bank to IBERIABANK in 1997.
Following his retirement as President, Larrey continued his service to IBERIABANK through community reinvestment, civic involvement, and regional public relations initiatives. He also remained an active member of the Board of Directors of IBERIABANK and IBERIABANK Corporation. He retired from the board in August 2008, concluding many years of dedicated service to an institution he had helped shape and grow.
Larrey’s commitment to his community extended well beyond his professional life. He served as Treasurer of United Way of Iberia Parish and as District Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the VFW and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
While Larrey took great pride in his career and community involvement, he enjoyed reading, playing chess, traveling and spending time with family. He and his wife Carol shared many of these interests throughout their 14 years of marriage particularly their love of travel and time with family. While his success in his professional life was a source of great pride; his greatest legacy was never found in his career. It was in the laughter around the dinner table, the unexpected jokes, the playful antics and the countless moments when he made life more joyful.
Larrey is survived by his wife Carol Cote Mouton; his children Robin Mouton Navarre (Steve) of Destin, Florida, and Larrey “Sonny” Mouton, Jr. (Kerri Kaye) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Andy Stanford, Amy Stanford Achee (Mac), both of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Amanda Stanford Dupre (Ross) of Franklin, Tennessee; his sisters, Adrienne Stevens and Maydeen Worley.
