Cecilia- Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Laura Wright Melancon, 87, who passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Fr. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Mrs. Melancon was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved cooking for her family on any given occasion. She loved talking to and visiting with her family and friends, and she loved music and singing. Survivors include her husband, Harold Melancon of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Donna Bergeron and husband, Donald, of Breaux Bridge, and Carole Dauphine and husband, Glenwood, of Cecilia; one brother, Alvin Wright of Arnaudville; two sisters, Marjorie Darby (Mrs. Edwin Darby) and Mary Robin (Mrs. Jeffery Robin), of Arnaudville; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin R. and Ella Fruge Wright; and a great granddaughter, Kylie Scrantz. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Ronald 'Buddy' Scrantz, Jr., Guy David Scrantz, Tony James Bergeron, Jamie Bergeron, Dr. Jeanne Theriot, and Marcie Dauphine.
