Laurel Roy Morvant

Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Service will be held at Pellerins Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, LA at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 for Laurel Roy Morvant, 59, who died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 10:30 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. Deacon Marel Butch Hbert will officiate at the service. A native of Parks, Laurel was a 1971 graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School in St. Martinville and a January 1975 graduate of the University Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) with a bachelors degree in sociology and psychology. She later earned certification as an educator and spent many years as an elementary school teacher in the New Orleans and Lafayette areas. In later years, she served as a social worker, again in the New Orleans and Lafayette areas. Laurel was a loving sister, mother and grandmother whose greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed moments with her daughters and granddaughter. Laurel is survived by her daughters, Alexandra Bullock and Olivia Bullock, and their father David Bullock; her granddaughter Caitlyn; her sisters, Marilyn Fournet of New Orleans, Sherrill Fournet of Modesto, CA, Julaine (Peter) Gray of Lafayette, Marjorie Roy of Lafayette, Gretchen Breckenridge of New Orleans, Karlyss Sullivan of New Orleans, and Harriet Ochse of Lafayette; and her husband Dane. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence K.C. and Estelle Ransonet Roy, her sister Deborah R. Morvant, and her brother Lawrence Roy, Jr. Laurels daughters Alexandra and Olivia will lovingly cherish and protect her remains.
