New Iberia - On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 6:35 AM, we said our last goodbye to our beloved Lawanda Anne Ellis. No longer able to battle cancer and surrounded at home by loved ones, Lawanda peacefully left her human body at the age of 46. Services will be private.
Born on December 17, 1975, in New Iberia, Louisiana, Lawanda was the oldest of four children of Thomas J. Ellis, Jr. and Suzette Walker Ellis, mother to Taylor and Dylan. She was happiest surrounded by her family and friends, and if the setting was a beach, so much the better! We will miss her bright eyes, beautiful smile, caring spirit, and the laughter she brought to us all.
Lawanda is survived by her parents, Thomas and Suzette Ellis of New Iberia; her children, Taylor Smith (Stiles Jolivet), and Dylan Smith; two sisters, Tanya Ellis and Melanie Migues (Kendal); a brother, Joshua Ellis (Juanita) all of New Iberia; a special cousin, David Alleman (Jessica Stuckey) of Spring, TX; a dear friend, Nicky Derouen (Layne) of Broussard; many relatives and friends; her first precious grandchild, baby girl Jolivet, due October 2022; and nieces and nephews, Kole Migues, Hunter Ellis, Miley Migues, Donovan Moran, and Christopher Moran.
Pallbearers will be David Alleman, Nicky Derouen, Shane Walker, Kole Migues, Kendal Migues, and Dalton Doyle.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hope Hospice for extraordinary service and tender care.
