St. Martinville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Lawrence Joseph Alexander, Sr., 79, who passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Dauterive Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:45 am on Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Alexander enjoyed doing his electrical work, watching T.V., especially the daily soap operas and New Orleans Saints football, and in his free time he loved going dancing. He loved being with his family and friends, but he most especially treasured the many times spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ella Mae Bourda Alexander; two sons, Lawrence Alexander, Jr. and wife, Rosalene, and Kevin Alexander and wife, Kathleen; four daughters, Valerie Mitchell and husband, Lionel, Leslie Mitchell and husband, Leonard, Monica Alexander, and Michelle Castillo and husband, Lider; his brother, Joseph Alexander and wife, Doris; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Louisette Alexander; parents, Landor and Elvina Pickney Alexander; and two sisters, Edna Mae Francis and Serena Mitchell. Pallbearers will be Kevin Alexander Jr., Derek Livingston, Reginald Alexander, Christopher Mitchell, Tommy Joe and Martin Segura. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Alexander, Sr., Lawrence Alexander, Jr., Alvin Mitchell, Gilbert Mitchell, Carey Jones III, Clarence Pickney, Gary Hypolite, Harold Pickney, Charles Lee and Henry Pickney.
