With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lawrence Alvin Dupuis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on August 9, 1932, in St. Martinville, Louisiana, Lawrence dedicated his life to the values of family, service, and hard work.
A proud veteran, Lawrence honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War, a chapter that epitomized his commitment to duty and country. Following his military service, he embarked on a fruitful career as a truck driver, which led him to become a tugboat driver before retiring. His connection to the community was further solidified when he owned the Sinclair Station in Parks, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many.
Lawrence found true joy in the simple pleasures of life, including cooking, reading and dancing with the love of his life for 72 wonderful years. He and his wife would often be found twirling around the dance floor at La Poussiere, or, if they couldn't make it out, losing themselves in dances in their living room. His adoration for his wife and grandchildren was evident, and the time spent with family was his greatest treasure.
He is survived by his sons, Alvin "Boo Boo" Dupuis (Janice), Gerald "JJ" Dupuis (Gail), Robert Dupuis (Rachel), Larry Dupuis (Danita) and Dwayne Dupuis (Barbara); daughter, Martha Wetzel; brother, Allie Dupuis; sister, Louella Verret; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Maydelle Theriot Dupuis; parents, August Dupuis, Sr. and Jeanne Laperouse Dupuis; brother, August Dupuis, Jr.; and sister, Odile Fuselier.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Dupuis, Robert Dupuis, Larry Dupuis, Daniel Dupuis, Glynn Dupuis and Gerard Dupuis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Alvin Dupuis, Dwayne Dupuis, Sean Champagne, Trey Bijeaux and Allie Dupuis.
