New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2026, for Lawrence Verret, Sr., 82, who passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Rev. Keith Landry will officiate.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Thursday from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm.
A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Lawrence Verret, Sr. was born in on August 22, 1943, to the late Euesbe “Tucker” and Lillian Guidry Verret. He was a devoted family man, compassionate friend, and hardworking businessman who had a selfless spirit and a generous heart.
Throughout his career in the oilfield, Lawrence was a prominent figure in the business world. As the owner and operator of Vesco Rentals and Supply, alongside Service Machine and Supply, he built a legacy defined by dedication and the drive to provide for others.
Lawrence found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the precious moments shared with loved ones. Known for his selflessness, he relished any opportunity to do for others, always placing the needs of friends and family above his own. Whether grilling and cooking for gatherings or hosting celebrations filled with warmth and laughter, Lawrence created an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome and cherished. He loved a good card game with friends, going to the casino, and watching westerns.
Above all else, Lawrence treasured his time spent with family. His presence was a steady and comforting force, a source of love and guidance that will be deeply missed.
Mr. Verret is survived by son, Larry Verret (Tracy); daughter, Jamie Romero (Kevin); grandchildren, Macy Romero, Braidon Bijeaux (companion Nicole Dorsey), and Taylor Guilbeau (Nick); great-grandchildren, Malaya Guilbeau and Kyra Guilbeau; and siblings, Elaine Gibbs, Cynthia Williams (Marshall), and Sandra Miller (Ricky).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Robicheaux Verret; brother, Carroll Verret; sister-in-law, Joyce Romero Verret; and brother-in-law, Ernest Gibbs.
Pallbearers are Kevin Romero, Braidon Bijeaux, Chris Meche, Donald Romero, James Trahan, Warren Gachassin, Troy Racca, and Eddie Verret.
Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Dupuis and Jimmy Gibbs.
Lawrence leaves behind a world more colorful than he found it. He will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.
