Breaux Bridge - A Christian funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Lena Roy Harrington, 89, who passed away peacefully at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her residence with her loving family at her side. Rev. Jan Holloway Curwick of the First United Methodist Church will officiate at the funeral service. Flo Hatcher and Carolyn Alleman will deliver the witness of family and friends. Kevin Roy will read the scriptures. Interment will follow at Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery in Rayne. Lena was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lafayette. She was very active in her community and was often promoting businesses and industries to come to Louisiana. She was involved in various clubs and organizations, such as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Louisiana Cattlemens Association, served as a board member of T.I.R.R.A., Le Clube Demi-Tasse, Saturday Night Ladies Dinner Club, St. Martin Parish Home Demonstration Club, and the Breaux Bridge Coffee Club. Lena was known to everyone to be a kind soul who devoted her life by taking care of others. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and working in her flower gardens. She and her husband loved to travel and enjoyed many trips together. Lena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to everyone and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her most treasured times were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who meant the world to her. Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth E. Harrington of Breaux Bridge, and Chris C. Harrington and his wife, Pauline, of Colorado Springs, CO; her daughter, Barbara Harrington Roy of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Kevin D. Roy, John R. Roy, Ashley Ennis, and Micah Harrington; ten great grandchildren, Blake Barton, Mitchell Thibodeaux, Kelsee Roy, Trevor Roy, Carlee Roy, Martha Roy, Samantha Roy, Daniel Roy, Spencer Roy, and Shelby Roy; and one great-great grandchild, Camdon Barnard. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Harrington; her parents, Clopha and Lucille Lognion Roy; two brothers, Claude and Lenus Roy; her son-in-law, Dan 'Sonny' Roy; and a granddaughter, Sherri Barton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers will be Trevor Roy, Micah Harrington, Daniel Roy, Spencer Roy, Mitchell Thibodeaux, John Roy, and Kevin Roy. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, Kathy Comeaux, Tammy Landry, Kasey Trahan, Donnell Comeaux, and Sandy Josey, and also Hospice of Acadiana, for the special care of their mother.
