Leona Chastant

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m., on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Leona T. Chastant, 80, who passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Martinville Rehab and Nusing Center. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville will officiate at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Rhealeen T. Berard and Tracy T. Hebert. Gift Bearers will be Kenneth and Mary Ann Chastant. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Survivors include her son, Kenneth J. Chastant and his wife, Mary Ann, of St. Martinville; two sisters, Rowena T. Champagne of New Iberia, and Vivian T. Blanchard of St. Martinville; four nieces, Rhealeen T. Berard, Tracy T. Hebert, Claudette Berard, and Deyna Champagne; and two nephews, Donald J. Thibodeaux, Jr., and Gregory Chastant. She was preceded in death by a son, Karl W. Chastant; her daughter, Jeannie Chastant; her parents, Alcee and Zulma C. Thibodeaux; and her brother, Donald J. Thibodeaux, Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Chastant, Donald J. Thibodeaux, Jr., Gregory Chastant, Brooks Hebert, Dustin Ronsonet, and Dwight Stelly. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Doctors and staffs of St. Martinville Rehab and Nursing Center and Hospice of Acadiana, for the compassionate care and attention given to her during her time of need.
