Leona was born on March 7, 1935. Leona was a deeply devoted Catholic who never missed the 4:00 p.m. Mass. She always arrived early, faithfully saying her rosary and living her life rooted in prayer and service. Her faith guided every part of who she was.
She found joy in tending to her flowers and vegetable garden, nurturing life with the same care and patience she showed her family. Leona was the heart of her home, lovingly caring for her grandchildren, her mother-in-law until her passing, and later her husband until his passing. Caring for others was not just something she did-it was who she was.
One of her greatest joys was babysitting her beloved "babies" alongside her daughter-in-law, Connie. She cherished time spent with family, especially her treasured two-week trips to Texas and her annual girls' shopping trips with her daughter, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters-moments filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories.
Leona will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle strength, and her endless devotion to those she loved. Her life was a true example of service, sacrifice, and unconditional love, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Darbonne (Timmy); son, Warren Poirier(Connie); brothers, Leroy Landry (Betty) and Willis Landry (Linda); sisters, Anne L. Caillier and Antonia L. Poirier;sister-in-law; Cecile T. Landry and Mary Ann Landry; grandchildren, Jackie Simeon, Casey Nugent (Andrew), August (AJ) Dawson-Darbonne (Chris), Danielle Andrus (Phillip), Justin Darbonne (Danielle) and Amber B.
