Cecilia - A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Leonard Joseph "Mouse" Scrantz, 77, who passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
A Rosary will be prayed at 12:30.
Rev. Gregory Comier will officiate the Memorial service. Reader will be Chaz Roberts.
Leonard Joseph Scrantz of Breaux Bridge, LA, a devoted family man and respected business owner, passed away on July 9, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on August 3, 1946, in Breaux Bridge, Leonard was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a dedicated member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
During his time in the United States Army, Leonard received several military honors for his exceptional service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Marksman (Rifle).
He also enjoyed mentoring his nephews, sons-in-law, grandsons, their friends, and other cousins, always eager to share his wisdom and experience to help guide the next generation.
A lifelong enthusiast of classic cars and a member of the Porsche 356 Registry, Leonard found joy in collecting vintage vehicles and sharing his passion for automotive history with others. As the owner of Quality N.D.T., Magna SCAN, and Wear Control Welding, Leonard was a successful entrepreneur in the oil industry, known for his generosity in helping others in business endeavors.
In his spare time, Leonard relished playing golf, traveling, and tailgating at L.S.U. games, where he proudly displayed his die-hard support as a fan. His dedication to his community and his commitment to his country will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sherry Scrantz; daughters, Brandy (Scott) Quebedeaux and Courtney (Corey) LeBlanc; grandchildren, Ian, Cole, and Gabby Quebedeaux, and Marley and Josephine LeBlanc; and his nephews, Ronald "Buddy" Scrantz and Guy David Scrantz.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Florence Guidry Scrantz; and his brother, Ronald Scrantz.
Leonard's family would like to thank Wendy Cole with NSI Hospice and Karen Journet for guiding us through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Legion Post 294 (Cecilia), in Leonard's name would be appreciated.
