Leonard Robin

Arnaudville- Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. , on Monday, December 6, 2010 , at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Leonard Robin, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas . Entombment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Rev. Austin Leger will officiate at the services. Reading the scriptures will be Crystal Robin and Dawn Torkowski. Betty Lopez and James Robin will serve as gift bearers. Mr. Robin was a Corporal in the 42nd Division-Medical Battalion-Army during WWII. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 278 and Arnaudville VFW No. 5153. Mr. Robin was a commercial fisherman for 65 years, earning him the nickname 'Pop Chopique' by his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to anyone he meet. He will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include his son, James L. Robin and his wife, Janice of Arnaudville, his daughter, Betty L. R. Lopez of Washington State; his stepsons, Ronald Guidry of Breaux Bridge and Donald Guidry and his wife, Dean of Arnaudville; his stepdaughter, Rose Guidry of Arnaudville; his brother, Anthony 'Johnny' Robin of Lafayette; his sister, Evelyn Latiolais of Arnaudville; 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Rita Castille; 2nd wife, Joycie O. Robin; his parents, Regis and Emma Robin; his sons, Gerald 'Rizzle' and Jessie Paul Robin, Sr.; his brother, Clebert Robin; his sisters, Clema Wiltz and Bernice Lalonde; his son-in-law, Ramiro Lopez. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 p.m. Sunday until 12 midnight and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Donovan Lopez, Donny Robin, Jessie Paul Robin, Jr., Andy Torkowski, Jude Robin and Mike Lopez.
