Leroy "Nyok" Joseph Wiltz

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Leroy Nyok Wiltz, 71, who passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at St. Agnes Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Leroy Wiltz was born on October 28, 1942 in Breaux Bridge, LA to the late Beatrice Wiltz Alexander and late Joseph Barber. He was raised in Breaux Bridge. Leroy was a very strong-willed and loving person, always willing to lend a helping hand. Those who knew Nyok will all agree when his presence was in the room, joy, jokes and laughter would overflow. He had his own way of bringing friends and family together by getting the burner out, the big spoon, and his black pot. From then on it was straight wrist work, creating mouthwatering meals. In his earlier years, Leroy worked for the railroad in Houston, Texas before returning home to work as a carpenter for several years. He was employed by LGMC in 1987 until his illness began in 2012. He was united in matrimony to the late Rosalie Fontenette Wiltz, to this union three children were born: Christopher, Celeste, and Keliya Wiltz. He leaves to cherish his memoirs one son, Christopher Wiltz of Breaux Bridge; two daughters, Celeste (Miller) Shield of Norfolk, Virginia, and Keliya (Trevella) Wiltz of Breaux Bridge; two grandchildren, Hannah and Madison; eight sisters, Mildred Alexander, Elizabeth (Coonie) Stagg, Eva (William) Mouton, Alda Barber, all of Breaux Bridge, Anna Barber of Houston, TX, Hilda (Earl) Spencer of Arnaudville, Doris Roman of St. Martinville and Mary Alice (Melvin) Malone of Tacoma, WA; five brothers, Carroll (Eleria) Barber and Darrell (Carleen) Barber of Houston, TX, Wilbert Soularie, Jr. of Jacksonville, AR, Ricky (Kim) Soularie, James Soularie, both of Breaux Bridge; his step mother, Alexina Barber; foster father, Wilbert Soularie; special friend, Nancy Martinez; son-at-heart, Roderick Martinez; daughter-at-heart, Jalyne Cole; and many godchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Rosalie Wiltz; parents, Beatrice and Hamilton Alexander, and Joseph Barber; foster mother, Theresa Soularie; sisters, Louberta Alexander and Laurie Hypolite; and brother, Henry Alexander. Pallbearers will be Carroll Barber, Darrell Barber, Ivory Staff III, Ryan Alexander, Cori Wiltz, and James Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Wiltz, Trevella Lee, Ivory Stagg, Jr., Allen Paul, Vincent Alexander, Roderick Martinez, Edward Wiltz, Richard Soularie, Vincent Pete, Miller Shield, and Harrison Gabriel. The family of Leroy Wiltz wishes to express gratitude to LGMC, Hospice of Acadiana, AMG Specialty of Lafayette, Lafayette Physical Rehab and Staff of ADL.
