Leslie Carmen Olivier was a woman who lived life on her own terms. Laid-back, independent, and comfortable in her own company, she never needed to be the loudest person in the room to make her presence known. She had a personality all her own, a sharp wit, a sense of humor that could catch you off guard, and a collection of quick comebacks that reminded you she was never afraid to speak her mind. If Leslie had something to say, you could rest assured she was going to say it!

A hard worker by nature, Leslie took pride in her independence and worked diligently throughout her life, earning the opportunity to enjoy retirement at a young age. She was someone who believed in looking after herself, but more importantly, she had a heart for looking after others. Over the years, she became a blessing to countless family members and friends, often showing her love through the things she did rather than the words she spoke.

Family was deeply important to Leslie. She had a special appreciation for her family's history and took pride in keeping those connections alive. Especially the stories about the time she spent living with Mrs. Laura Daye, whom she called “Big Momma.” She loved sharing stories about relatives and family members from generations past, making sure that even those who came after her knew where they came from. She was more than an aunt; she was a friend, a listening ear, and a source of wisdom. She was easy to talk to, and whether through a conversation, a story, or one of her unforgettable remarks, she always had a way of leaving you with something to remember.

Although Leslie never had children of her own, she embraced the role of an aunt with a love that went far beyond a title. Her nephew, Carroll Olivier, held an especially dear place in her heart, as she loved and treated him as her own son. Their relationship was a special one, built on love, shared memories, conversations, and the kind of bond that goes beyond what words can adequately describe.

When Leslie wasn't spending time with family or friends, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved listening to music, especially the sounds of George Benson, Sade, Sam Cooke, Al Green, and Bob Marley. She enjoyed playing solitaire, reading the newspaper, and taking her walks. In fact, those who knew Leslie knew her as someone who preferred walking over driving. She was also a lover of travel, particularly by train. She often spoke about how there was nothing quite like seeing the world from a train window, enjoying the journey as much as the destination. An independent spirit and a bit of a lone wolf, Leslie especially loved Oakland, California, a place she cherished so much that she made it her home for several years.

Leslie's life reminds us that love doesn't always have to be loud, and that some of the greatest blessings come from people who quietly show up, lend a helping hand, share their wisdom, and make sure the people they love are taken care of. She may have enjoyed keeping to herself, but her impact reached far beyond herself.

To know Leslie was to appreciate her honesty, laugh at her quick wit, listen to her stories, and experience a woman who loved her family in her own special way.

She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories that will continue to be shared, lessons that will not be forgotten, and a family who will forever be grateful for the love she gave.

Leslie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. Her presence may no longer be with us, but the memories she created and the lives she touched will continue to carry her legacy forward. She was, and always will be, a blessing to so many. For that, we love her, appreciate her, and will forever be thankful that we got to call her family.

Leslie leaves to cherish her memory her two sisters, Laura "Tiny" Olivier Hayes and Llwelyn "Lou" Olivier; her brother, Mr. & Mrs. Tracy Rogers (Vijaya); her beloved nieces and nephews (Laura’s) Mr. & Mrs. Derrick Hayes (Yolanda), (Lou’s) Mr. & Mrs. Carroll Olivier (Allison), Antonio Olivier, & Ke’Ajah Jackson; and a host of great-nieces & nephews, along with extended family members Gary Bryant, Cousin Dickie, & Vaughn and dear friends Phillip & Eric Narcisse (Deceased) such who will forever treasure her memory.
