Lewis "Light" Dauphine, Jr. was born on January 15, 1951, to the late Louis Dauphine, Sr. and Aurelia Joseph Dauphine.
Lewis dedicated more than 50 years of his career to the offshore industry. A hardworking and dependable man, he took great pride in providing for his family. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Chapel and a member of Knights of Peter Claver Court #53, St. Paul Benevolent Society, Parks Community Support Services, and True Friends of LaPointe. Lewis enjoyed cheering on the Miami Dolphins and looked forward to breakfast every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with his "Breakfast Crew" at the Qwik Stop Café, where friendship, laughter, and fellowship were always on the menu.
Although Lewis often wore a serious expression, those who knew him knew he had a kind and generous heart. He never hesitated to speak his mind, but if you needed him, he was always there. Family often joked that he would "eat you out of house and home," and he would simply smile and say, "It costs me nothing"! If someone expected him to pay them back, he would laugh and reply, "You'll never be broke". Those sayings are memories his family and friends will cherish forever.
Lewis also took great pride in caring for his yard. Whether mowing, edging, or weed-eating, he always made sure it looked its best. After a long day of yard work, he enjoyed relaxing with a "cold one". Above all, Lewis loved his family. His greatest joy was being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Narcisse Dauphine; one son, Lou Terence (Leola) Dauphine; two daughters, Krystal Dauphine and Julie Dauphine; five beloved grandchildren, Shazly Jones, Logan Dauphine, Lexi Dauphine, Lyric Dauphine, and Cullen Dauphine; one great-grandchild, Rylas Ledet; one sister, Linda Dauphine; one brother, Wilfred Dauphine; godchildren, Keith Filer, Angela Johnson-Hypolite, Heather Joseph, Dana James-Maxie, and Alvin Stewart; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Dauphine, Sr. and Aurelia Joseph Dauphine; his brothers, Archille Dauphine, Carol Dauphine, Dieu Dionne (D.D.) Dauphine, Gerald Dauphine, Paul Dauphine, Walter Dauphine, and Wilbert Dauphine; his sister, Betty Dauphine; and a host of in-laws and other relatives.
