Lorraine Leblanc, age 94, passed peacefully away 30th of January at home with cancer. Lorraine was born in 1928 on the 7th day of April and grew up in Arnaudville, La with her eighteen brothers and sisters. She later married Harris Leblanc on December 31, 1944, and had three loving children and moved to Krotz Springs, La in the early 1950's where the family opened Jax's restaurant, gas station, and bar. Seven years later, they moved to Henderson, La after purchasing the original Henry Guidry Restaurant and Club renaming it to once remembered as the Golden Spur where the famous Fats Dominos played music on the family piano in the club. Later, the Golden Spur was closed and torn down using the material to build their forever family home with those materials right in the backyard of the club. She and Harris then used material from the club to open one of the first boat landings on the Henderson levee along the Atchafalaya Basin naming it "Leblanc's Landing" who stills stands today as "The Basin Landing." After many years of managing their boat landing and raising their children, they decided to sell the landing and built a crawfish processing plant named Bonanza Crawfish Farms, Inc in 1962. The crawfish business continued operating within the family for 54 years. In 2016, Lorraine's daughter, Sharon, and her husband Gillray sold the business to another family who still today hold the original name "Bonanza Crawfish" known for the best tasting crawfish along the Gulf Coast.
Loraine was a beautiful and classy woman, always dressed to the nines. She never missed a beat when there was a chance to take a trip to the casino with friends, dance the night away, see Christmas lights in New Orleans, and enjoy a fun time with her group of lady friends, kids, and grandkids.
To friends and neighbors, Lorraine will always be known as a soft spoken, truly kind, loving, and caring person. To her family, Maw Maw was a fighter and had been a fighter her whole life. She never complained and anything that was thrown her way, she fought and showed those close to her that she was ALWAYS ready for the fight.
After all the challenges in her life, Lorraine taught her kids and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the importance of being strong, being patient, being considerate, how to cook her famous Cajun cooking especially known her Crawfish Bisque. Lorraine had an underlying love of always taking care of everyone that was in need. Lorraine, despite the hardships she overcame, she was and will continue to be an inspiration for all future generations.
