Lorraine Pontiff

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Monday, December 27, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge for Lorraine Calais Pontiff, 89, who passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at her residence after a brief illness. Father Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral service. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 - Mausoleum in Breaux Bridge. Lorraine was born on March 5, 1921 to Albert and Stella Dugas Calais of Cecilia, Louisiana, where she was raised, along with her fourteen siblings. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Rufus J. Pontiff of Parks; her daughter, Linda P. Martinez of Parks; her sister, Lena C. Cormier of Breaux Bridge; six grandchildren, Scott Martinez, Chip Martinez, Brock Menard, Kolin Menard, Tara M. Berard and Camron Menard; and seven great grandchildren, Brooks Martinez, Brett Martinez, Tyler Martinez, Hayden Menard, Treylen Berard, Gavin Lasseigne, and Jace Menard. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Pontiff; her daughter, Bonnie Pontiff Menard; her parents; nine brothers, Louis, Clay, Sidney, Wade, Wilton , Joseph, Shirley, Allen, and Rene Calais; and four sisters, Marie Guilbeau, Agnes LeBlanc, Cecile Calais, and Louise Calais. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday. A Rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. by Deacon Marcel 'Butch' Hebert. Pallbearers will be Scott Martinez, Chip Martinez, Brock Menard, Kolin Menard, Camron Menard, and Brooks Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Martinez and Brett Martinez. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
