Louis Cormier

August 25, 1914 — November 23, 2010

Breaux Bridge - We mourn the passing of Louis Cormier, 96, of Breaux Bridge , a strong and able man, tending his crawfish traps into his 94th year. His strong physical constitution was dwarfed however by his high moral character, above all humility, decency and honesty. We would all do well to not only learn, but live, by his example. He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Euranie Dore Cormier, his son, Ralph Cormier, and his daughter, Velma Cormier Hebert. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Cormier (and his wife Joyce Cormier), his son-in-law, Dale Hebert, and his sons companion, Nancy Whitley. He leaves an enduring legacy of 8 grandchildren, Anna Cormier Durand (and her husband Louis Durand), Ralph Jeffery Cormier, Susie Cormier Matthieu (and her husband Ronald Matthieu), Ena Cormier, Anita Cormier Leblanc, Errol Cormier, Mitzi Hebert Theall (and her husband Aaron Theall), and James Hebert (and his wife Jeanne Hebert), 12 great grandchildren, Corey Durand, Blake Durand, Gregg Durand, Terra Matthieu Melancon, Ronnie Matthieu, Trisha Huval, Christopher Huval, April Leblanc Schendel, Ali Leblanc, Justin Badeaux, Jordan Badeaux and Colin Hebert, and 10 great-great grandchildren, Drew Durand, Charli Durand, Emily Durand, Camryn Durand, Brayden Melancon, Dylan Melancon, Emma Matthieu, Kel Matthieu, Logan McMichael and Kingston Badeaux. Louis Cormier was preceded in death by his parents, Damas Cormier and Odelia Bellaire Cormier, six brothers and sisters, Camillia Cormier Guidry, Edwin Cormier, Jacques Cormier, Percy Cormier, Amy Cormier Alleman, Edmond Cormier as well as his daughter-in-law, Marie Louise Richard Cormier. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 , at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge . Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge . Visitation will be from 10 a .m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturay at 7 a .m. until 1 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be R. Jeffery Cormier, Errol Cormier, James Hebert, Corey Durand, Justin Badeaux and Jordan Badeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Cormier, Stephen Cormier, Dale Hebert, Blake Durand, Gregg Durand, Ronnie Matthieu and Christopher Huval. It is especially appropriate on this Thanksgiving holiday to express the familys appreciation and many thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, specifically, Beth, Louise, Donna and Tawana for the unconditional care and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Hospice of Acadiana, Inc., 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200 , Lafayette , LA 70503 , or online at www.hospiceacadiana.com, so they may continue their important work.
