Louis "Ric" Collet, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, with loved ones at his side.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
He was born on January 16, 1949 in Breaux Bridge to Louis and Vivian Loehr Collet. He was a 1967 graduate of Breaux Bridge High School. Louis was a veteran of the United States Air force, where he served as a physical education instructor to foreign airmen. He married the love of his life, Janel, on June 15, 1960, in Baton Rouge. On March 10, 1989 they welcome their only son, Daniel Ray Collet, who he was extremely proud of. Louis owned a jewelry store in downtown Breaux Bridge, "Adornare Jewelry" for many years. He and Janel also ran Main Street Teen Club for 20 years.
Louis was a proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Mia and Marla Collet, grandson-in-law Dino Tumminello, Jr. and more importantly, his great grandson, Dino Tumminello, III, "Bug". He enjoyed watching his son play music, watching sports, sitting outside with his wife, doing projects around the house with his best friend and number one helper, "Bug", and finally, bonding over unique hobbies and similarities with his grandson-in-law, Dino. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Janel Guidry Collet; son, Danny Collet; brother, Tony (Eliud) Collet; sisters, Billie (Victor) Elmer, Donella Duncan, Ruby (Ronnie) Guidry, Darlene Broussard, Mary (Brian) Guidry, Jan (Toby) Webre, Jill (Guy) Zimmerman, and Candy (Ronnie) Hamilton; grandchildren, Mia (Dino) Tumminello and Marla Collet; and his great-grandchild, Dino Tumminello, III.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Vivian Collet; and his in-laws, Earl and Evelyna Guidry.
