Arnaudville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm, on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Louis Joseph Stelly, 83, who passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm on Tuesday and continue until 2:30 pm on Wednesday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Arnaudville. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Keenan Brown will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Laci Arnaud and David Stelly. Gift Bearers will be Taryn Franke, Jillian Handler and Jackie Stelly. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. Mr. Stelly was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having honorably served his country in the United States Navy. While serving in the Navy he was on the boxing team and was a lightweight champion. A parishioner of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, he was a member of the Holy Name Society, and was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 5153, American Legion, and Telephone Pioneers Camping group. Louis enjoyed music and played the guitar with a well-known local band, Alvin and the Memories for many years. As a pastime he enjoyed going dancing, camping, woodworking, family gatherings, and meeting new people he would befriend anyone hed meet. He will long be remembered for his little saying he would tell everyone, Seeyouwhileago! He is survived by two sons, David Stelly of Arnaudville, and Francis Keith Stelly of Jennings; four daughters, Bonita (Gary) Lee of Pensacola, FL, Carla Comeaux of Dallas, TX, Pamela Arnaud of Lafayette, and Lori (Michael, Jr.) Kidder of Arnaudville; three brothers, Earl (Lena) Stelly of Leonville, Willie J. (Viola) Stelly of Arnaudville, John Calvin (Cathy) Stelly of Youngsville; three sisters, Velma "Sis" Olivier, Grace (Louis) Marks, and Doris Richard of Arnaudville; eight grandchildren, Jai Clay, Bucky Lee, Nicholas Arnaud, Jillian Handler, Taryn Franke, Laci Arnaud, Spencer Stelly, and Darian Kidder; and nine great grandchildren, Erika Clay, Brandi Lee, Halle Arnaud, Mikey Lee, Austin Clay, Brennen Lee, Chloe Arnaud, Violet Franke, and Stella Franke. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jesselyn G. Stelly; his parents, Louis and Alma Miller Stelly; and two brothers, Joseph T- Joe Stelly and Lee Tate Stelly. Pallbearers will be Spencer Stelly, Jai Clay, Nicholas Arnaud, Mike Kidder, Gary Lee, and Ellis Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Arnaud, Cameron Handler, Dave Franke, his three brothers, and his godchildren, Joey Stelly, Mike Guidroz, and Francis Keith Stelly.
