New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014 Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Loveless Vice, 85, who passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 in New Iberia.
Entombment will be in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM.
Born on July 22, 1928, Mr. Vice was the son of Gustave and Lydia Romero Vice, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served our country during the Korean War. A barber for 60 years, he was the owner of Vices Barber Shop, where he worked until the age of 84. He received the Best of the Teche Barber Shop Award for numerous years.
Mr. Vice was an usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for over 50 years, and enjoyed horse racing, playing poker, and visiting with family and friends. He was a past member of the Barbers Union, Lions Club, VFW, Knights of Columbus, the Krewe of Iberians, and the Krewe of Andalusia.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Doris Derouen Vice of New Iberia; children, Tim Vice and wife Deborah of Broussard, Karen Schexnayder and husband Arnold of Baton Rouge; sisters, Ruby Granger and husband Curley of Erath, Lula Mae Touchet of Erath; grandchildren, Ryan Vice and wife Christina of Broussard, Brant Vice of Broussard, Kelsey Schexnayder of Baton Rouge, Ben Schexnayder of Baton Rouge; and a great grandson, Silas Vice of Broussard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Alvin Vice, Eunice Boudreaux, Robert Vice, Dalton Vice, Lily Mae Richard; and grandsons, Marc and Max Schexnayder.
