Breaux Bridge A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 pm, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Lucien Joseph Menard, Jr., 84, who passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:30 am until 2:15 pm on Wednesday.
Rev. John Vice, Pastor of Open Door Church, will conduct the Funeral Service. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Our Hero! The man whom we called father and Papit, we also affectionately call hero! His legacy will continue for generations because of the man he chose to be. As a result of his encounter with Jesus in 1975 our family is forever blessed. He paved the way for us as a family on what true greatness means. It wasnt only by the money he made or the job he held, but rather the God he served. His life, love, and faith will continue beyond years through his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We love you Beb!
Lucien was retired from the State of Louisiana Highway Department, where he worked as a welder. He enjoyed cattle farming, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Elizebelle Landry Menard of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Shara Guidry and husband, Perry, Linda Bailey and companion, Jimmy Dupuis, and Sheila Collette and husband, Bryan, all of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Ann Douet of Parks; nine grandchildren, Byron Guidry and wife, Danielle, Micah Guidry and wife, Tasha, Kayla Patel and husband, Nilay, Kristen Moody and husband, John, Brody Melancon, Brady Melancon, Joshua Collette, Cassie Semmens and husband, Ryan, and Caleb Collette; eight great grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Ruby Menard of Breaux Bridge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lucien Joseph Menard, Sr. and Lelia Hulin Menard; two brothers, Percy and Norille Menard; and three sisters, Leotine Delahoussaye, Lorena Boutte, and Loretta Champagne.
Pallbearers will be Byron Guidry, Micah Guidry, Brody Melancon, Brady Melancon, Joshua Collette, and Caleb Collette.
His family would like to give their sincere thanks and appreciation for the dedicated care and attention given to him by his caregivers, Tina Wyatt, Sheri Comb, Anna Serrette, and Melissa Sam; the staff of St. Martin Hospital; also to Beverly Manser, Barbara Schexnyder, Judy Dupuis, Brenda Landry, Synergy Home Health, and Dr. Debra Durham.
