Lydia Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Junius Joseph Thibodeaux, Jr., 74, who died on Sunday, March 30, 2014 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in the Patoutville Cemetery. Rev. Gregory Chauvin will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM Wednesday. Born on November 28, 1939 on Weeks Island, he was the owner of Nannies Country Corner Flower Shop in Lydia, and had also worked for the New Iberia Police Department. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Thibodeaux loved animals, especially raising chickens, and working with flowers. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Thibodeaux cherished moments spent with his family and friends. Survivors include wife of 49 years, Barbara Pinell Thibodeaux of Lydia; daughters, Sara LaBiche of Lydia, Emma Valentine and husband Robert of Katy, Texas; sons, Junius Bud Thibodeaux, III of Lydia, Eric John Thibodeaux of Texas, Kevin Michael Thibodeaux and wife Tanya of Lydia; brothers, Raymond Thibodeaux and wife Ruby of Lydia, Julius Butch Thibodeaux and wife Jane of Lydia, Kenneth Thibodeaux and wife Sharon of Glouester, Massachusetts, Horace Thibodeaux of Houma; sister, Priscilla Fondren of Lydia; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius J. Thibodeaux, Sr. and Emma Lori Lyons Thibodeaux; five sisters, Rosa Mae Prince, Frances Luent, Bertha Walker, Gwendolyn Ardeneaux; and Bernice Nicky Guillory. Pallbearers will be Eric Thibodeaux, Kevin Thibodeaux, Dustin Thibodeaux, Charles Pinell, Ronald Pinell, and Arlen Alexander. Honorary pallbearers include Raymond Thibodeaux, Julius Butch Thibodeaux, and Kenneth Thibodeaux.
