Lyness Joseph Frederick, Sr.

Breaux Bridge Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Lyness Joseph Frederick, Sr., 76, who passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday. Deacon Marcel Butch Hebert will conduct the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Doreen Durand and Stephanie Hardy. Gift Bearers will be Jessica Frederick, Alyson Mestayer, and Shelly Frederick. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Frederick honorably served his country in the United States Army and worked in the oilfield industry for Delta Drilling for over 25 years. Lyness loved taking care of his vegetable garden and fruit trees, growing watermelons, and he loved to pick pecans when he was able to. He was proud of his Cajun heritage and loved listening to French music. Lyness was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he would take riding around St. Martin Parish to show them the sites. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cecile Degeyter Frederick; his son, Lyness Frederick, Jr. and wife, Kimberly Turner Frederick; his daughter, Roxanne Frederick Mestayer and husband, Aaron; five grandchildren, Ross Frederick and wife, Shelly, Josh Frederick (Stephanie Hardy), Jessica Frederick (Brock Savoie), Bryson Mestayer, and Alyson Mestayer; and seven great grandchildren, Kayne, Kadyn, Evin, Jack, Emily, and Rhett Frederick, and Brynn Savoie; step great grandchild, Kip Trahan; four brothers, Leo Frederick and wife, Shirley, Herman Frederick and wife, Sophie, Chester Frederick and wife, Diane, and Lenny Frederick and wife, Rita; three sisters, Yola Frederick Castille, Nola Frederick Boudreaux and husband, Joseph, and Hilda Frederick Gary and husband, Wilfred; He is preceded in death by his parents, Elus and Emily Cormier Frederick; a son, David Frederick; and three brothers, Clifford, Harold, and Ralph Frederick. Pallbearers will be Ross Frederick, Josh Frederick, Bryson Mestayer, David Castille, Charlie Thibodeaux, and Howard Luke. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
