New Iberia Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at First Baptist Church in New Iberia, for Mack Butch Perdue, 68, who lost his battle with kidney cancer on Friday, September 20, 2013 in Coteau.
Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Downs will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. A Masonic Service will be at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 2:15 PM.
A resident of Coteau, Mr. Perdue was born on January 22, 1945 in Addison, Texas to Edgar and Eva Dockins Perdue. He was retired from Halliburton and worked as a carpenter for Kut to Fit in New Iberia. Butch was a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge No. 193, the Shriners, Creole Gourmets, First Baptist Church of New Iberia, and was an active member of the Optimist Club since 1985.
An avid motorcycle rider, Butch enjoyed fishing and relaxing at his camp at Toledo Bend, playing pool, and woodworking. He always had a smile on his face, and was continually upbeat and positive about everything. His greatest joy was witnessing the birth of three of his grandchildren. Butch was the cornerstone of his family.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Sons Perdue of Coteau; sons, Robert Holt of Coteau, Nathan Bourgeois and wife Alicia of Coteau; daughters, Peggy Clark and husband Jeffery of New Iberia, Carrie Jolet and husband Steven of New Iberia, Kelly Desormeaux and husband Thad of New Iberia; brother, Bobby Perdue and wife Ludene of Krum, Texas and their children, Michael Perdue and wife Marian, Daniel Perdue and wife Heather; sister, Patsy Perdue Jacobs and husband Rodger Jacobs of Addison, Texas and their children William Jacobs and wife Anita, Monica Jacobs; eight grandchildren, Karissa Clark, Madelynn Clark, Braydden Clark, Kyle Bourgeois , Kolby Bourgeois, Noah Jolet, Victoria Desormeaux, Catherine Desormeaux; niece, Erin Lassalle; nephew, Jacob Prassenos; sister-in-law, Tootie Goodwin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Aharon Clark.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Clark, Steven Jolet, Dorsey Dutil, Robert May, Robert Holt, and Dave Feldman.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Lydia Cancer Association, Darcey and Sue Dutil, and the many neighbors and friends for their extraordinary care and support.
