Malven "Touie" Guidry

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Malven "Touie" Guidry, 87, who passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 6:30 pm until 11:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 12:45 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm on Friday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Cody Guidry and Lori Bienvenu. Gift Bearers will be April Sonnier and Travis Guidry. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia. Mr. Guidry was a native of Grand Anse and a veteran of World War II, honorably serving in the United States Navy. After his discharge he continued to work at carpentry with his father and purchased a tractor and farmed as well. He spent some time working on river boats before spending the rest of his life doing carpentry work all over Lafayette and elsewhere. He also built pirogues for neighbors and friends. A very gentle and easy-going man, he loved to laugh and had a good and happy life. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed going frogging. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Oline Belaire Guidry; four sons, Norman Guidry and wife, Sarah Douet, Norris Guidry and wife, Yvonne Lalonde, Robby Guidry and wife, Janice Robin, and Willis Guidry and wife, Charla Lormand; three sisters, Elaine G. Chaisson, Marion "Sue" G. Patin, and Lou Ella G. Courville, and husband, Douglas, all of Cecilia; three brothers, Alvin J. Guidry and wife, Bertha Rose Bergeron, John Carey Guidry and wife, Loula Mae, all of Cecilia, and David R. Guidry and wife, Delores Taylor, of Plaquemine; three granddaughters, April Guidry Sonnier and husband, Byron, of Sunset, Lori Guidry Bienvenu and husband, Gerard, of Cecilia, and Shelli Guidry of Breaux Bridge; three grandsons, Cody Guidry and wife, Kristina, Travis Guidry, all of Cecilia, and Corey Castille of Perry, LA; and three great grandchildren, Skyler and Arden Sonnier and Gavin Guidry. He is preceded in death by his parents, Will Gaston Guidry and Amelie Guidry; his brother, Norris Guidry; his sisters, Rhena Guidry Dore and husband, Ames, Linda Guidry White and husband, Isaac, and infant sister, Marie Guidry; two nephews, Geary Reed White and Will Craig Courville; two nieces, Joneen Chaisson Guidry and husband, Kenneth "Buffie" Guidry, and Phyllis Joy Dore Theriot and husband, Joseph Ray Theriot; and his half-sister, Lucille Berard. Pallbearers will be his sons, Norman Guidry, Norris Guidry, Robby Guidry, Willis Guidry, and grandsons, Cody Guidry, and Travis Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Alvin J. Guidry, John Carey Guidry, David Guidry, and his great grandsons, Skylar and Arden Sonnier.
