Cecilia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Marcelle Nanny Guidry, 93, of Cecilia, who passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:30 am until 12:45 pm on Thursday. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 am on Thursday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Rachel Theriot and Matthew Fontenot. Gift Bearers will be Jeanne Theriot and Leilani Theriot. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Marcelle was born on March 3, 1921 to the late Charles and Fedora Guilbeau of Cecilia. She was married to the love of her life to her husband, Roy Joseph Guidry. Together they shared many years of happiness, where they mostly enjoyed traveling, camping, and cooking together. Nanny had a love for children although she did not have any of her own she was a devoted caretaker for her best friends children Florence Angelle. She was a member of the Widows of the Teche, Ladies Pokeno Club, and a very devoted Godmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Fedora Guilbeau; her husband, Roy Guidry; her sister, Margaret Dupuis; and her brothers, Ramsey Guilbeau, Woodrow Guilbeau, and Bradley Guilbeau. She is survived by her godchild, Virginia Angelle Theriot and her husband, John Theriot; and their children, Rachel Theriot, Mia Fontenot, Jeanne Theriot, and Lei Lani Theriot. Also, Gabriel Theriot, Haliana Fontenot, and Mason Curry and several other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bradley Breaux, Kenneth Meche, John Theriot, Perry Angelle, Hunter Landry, Matthew Fontenot, and John Curry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Dupuis, Rickie Dupuis, Leo Meche, Shelby Guilbeau, and Bobby Dupuis. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff and nurses at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville, where she was given excellent care and she made numerous friendships. We would also like to thank Dr. Charles Rees and Dr. Kirk Elliot for their services.
