Margaret Alexander

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 21, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Margaret Davis Alexander, 92, who passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Martinville Nursing and Rehab Center. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Fr. Justin Arockiasamy SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Debra Rogers and Christopher Champ. Gifts will be presented to the Altar by Shaterral Alexander, Terracia and Terri Rogers. Mrs. Alexander was devoted to providing her special 'nurturing care' to her family - always being there for them whenever the need would arise. As it was known that 'She never met a stranger' her kindness would always leave a lasting impression on those new-found friendships. She was a wonderful cook and loved entertaining family and friends on any occasion. Survivors include her son, Russell Alexander of Baton Rouge; her daughter, Rose Champ and her husband, Willie, of St. Martinville; one brother, Joseph Davis of St. Martinville; one sister, Dorothy Handy of St. Martinville; five grandchildren, Christopher Champ, Melissia Evans, Cornel Alexander, Dwayne Alexander, and Jerry Alexander; and four great grandchildren, Cordel and Shaterral Alexander, Austin Evans, and Xavier Champ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Alexander; a son, Joseph Herbert Alexander; her parents, Valier and Margaret Savoy Davis; two brothers, Sostan and Bernard Davis; and two sisters, Una Robertson and Bernadette Wiltz. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home on Monday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and continue until 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be Jerry Alexander, Dwight Alexander, Jr., Henry Dalcourt, Christopher and Jeremy Francois, Willie Rogers, and Wesley Wiltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Cornell, Cordell, Dwayne, Norman, and Dwight Alexander, Sr., Christopher, Willie, and Xavier Champ, Joseph Davis, Austin and Kelvin Evans.
