St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, April 14, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Margaret Fournet Bienvenu, 99, who passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue at 8:00 am until 10:30 am on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Rusty Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass with Fr. Kenneth Bienvenu Concelebrating. Altar Servers will be Jacques and Nicholas Bienvenu. Scriptures will be read by Caroline Pellerin and Anna Pellerin. Gift Bearers will be Jeanne Pellerin, Matthew Pellerin, Jack Pellerin, Peggy Champagne, and Ben Champagne. Music will be provided by Pat Melancon and Lainie Marcantel.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mrs. Bienvenu served as the secretary for the St. Martin Parish Police Jury for many years and was also a wonderful seamstress. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The love she had for her family was unconditional and she treasured the many times spent with her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Fred Bienvenu, Jr. and his wife, Lynn; two daughters, Sylvia Bienvenu McHugh and Juliette Bienvenu Landry and her husband, Rex, all of St. Martinville; seven grandchildren, Patrick Bienvenu, Peggy Champagne, Jeanne Pellerin, Tom McHugh, Paul McHugh, Pierre Landry, and Philippe Landry; and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred F. Bienvenu Sr.; her parents, Gabriel and Eugenie Bienvenu Fournet; her son, Don Bienvenu; her son-in-law, George W. McHugh; one brother, Antoine Fournet; and three sisters, Sylvia Fournet, Rowena Voorhies, and Anna Webb.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Bienvenu, Tom McHugh, Paul McHugh, Pierre Landry, Philippe Landry and Peter Champagne.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of her great grandchildren.
