Margaret Ann Fontenette

St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville on Saturday, January 30, 2021 for Margaret Ann Fontenette, 74, who passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2021. A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Fr. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD, will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Margaret was born on May 12, 1946. She graduated from Adam Carlson High School in 1965. She was a loving, dedicated, and kind-hearted mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She also enjoyed shopping, story-telling, reading, traveling, dressing up, going to family events, watching the soap operas, speaking with Floyd, Patricia, and Herman on the phone, and listening to zydeco music, especially J Paul, Jr. She was extremely beautiful, wise, and intelligent. She was a proud, strong, classy, and independent woman. She attended Mass every Saturday and prayed the rosary every night before she went to sleep. Margaret was selfless; she always put her daughters, grandchildren, and son-in-law first. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her five daughters: Dr. Annette F. Lee (Carlton, Jr.), Belinda M. Fontenette-Smith, Melinda A. Fontenette, Lisa A. Fontenette, and Leslie M. Fontenette; four grandchildren: Kristen L. Lee, Mia C. Campbell, Brennan M. Fontenette, and Kamren I. Smith; two brothers: Floyd Fontenette (Patricia) and Paul Fontenette (Mary); one sister: Prenella Fontenette (Michael Kately); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Alberta Davis Fontenette; sisters: Mary Elaine Green, Theresa Hill, Shirley Lewis, Emma Batiste, Virgin Mary Landry, Gloria Auguillard, Rose Jones, Castille Orphe, Maudry Porter, Mabel Porter and Alberta Williams; brothers: Merlin Fontenette, Lloyd Peter Fontenette, Roy Fontenette, James Perry Fontenette, Richard Fontenette, Jr., Antoine Fontenette, Robert Fontenette and Whitney Fontenette; and one grandchild: Carlton J. Lee, III. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hill, Raymond Fontenette, Earl Green, Jr., David Fontenette, Floyd Mitchell Fontenette, Jr., and Travis Fontenette. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlton Joseph Lee, Jr, Brennan Matthew Fontenette, Kamren Isaiah Smith, Floyd Fontenette, Paul Herman Fontenette, Dudley Champ, Michael Fontenette, Patrick Danny Fontenette, Brian Keith Green, Lenneth Hill, Alvin Jones, Clarence Porter, Ronald Fontenette, Marcus Fontenette, Jermaine Chretien, Earl Green, Sr., Michael Kately, Arthur Gedward, Benjamin Beaver, and Larry Sassau.
