Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church honoring the life of Margaret Darby Martin, 76, who passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at her residence.
A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Arnaudville on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 3:30 pm until 9:00 pm. It will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until 11:30 am.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening.
Father Reed Bellingham will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Trina Martin and Cassie Bergeron. Gift Bearers will be Allie Bergeron, Ashlea Bergeron, Alison Durio and Brooke Martin.
Burial will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery.
Margaret earned a Master's Degree in Education and she dedicated 35 years of her life to teaching at Arnaudville Elementary, inspiring countless students with her passion for education and her unwavering dedication.
She served proudly on the board of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, where her faith brought comfort and joy to many. Margaret also served with Toastmasters International for 12 years and she dedicated many years to the committee for the Etouffee Festival.
Margaret's warmth extended beyond the classroom and into her home. She adored cooking for her family, hosting meals that created lasting memories. Friday afternoons were sacred, as she enjoyed coffee with her dear friends. The annual birthday celebrations with her YaYa's were particularly special times, filled with love and laughter.
Margaret was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Luke Martin (Amy); daughter, Amanda Bergeron (David); sisters, Joan Miller and Phyllis Stelly (Lloyd); sister-in-law, Millie Calais Darby; grandchildren, Alison (Grant), Brooke (Jake), Trevor (Allie), Trent (Ashlea), Cassie, Trina (Logan), Corey and Joyce; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, especially Amelia Stelly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Marjorie Wright Darby; son, Franklin "Frankie" Martin; and brothers, Patrick Darby and Paul Darby.
Pallbearers will be Luke Martin, Trevor Bergeron, Trent Bergeron, Corey Martin, Logan Fugatt and Brian Quebedeaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Bergeron, Bodie Bergeron and Jack Borel.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to a special woman who cared for Margaret so faithfully during the final months of her life. Donna, you were so much more than a caretaker, you became family.
