St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Marie Boudreaux Champagne, 92, who passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011.
Rev. Edward Degeyter, will conduct the services. Readers will be Kabby C. Thompson and Helen Boudreaux. Responsorial Psalm will be read by Ann Champagne. Gift bearers will be Meghan, Caitlin, Erin, and Shannon Cassidy.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Marie was a member of the American Legion Post of Parks, St. Joseph Catholic Church and Adoration Chapel. She loved sewing, cooking, baking and visiting with her family and friends. She prayed the rosary daily, enjoyed attending her Masses and would always pray for anyone in need especially for her grandchildren while they were taking finals.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Louis Joseph Champagne; her sons, Jimmy Champagne and his wife, Teetsie of Beaumont, TX, Gerald Champagne and his wife, Virginia of Houston, TX, and Charlie Champagne and his wife, Charlene of Cecilia; his daughters, Jackie Cassidy and her husband, Robert of Lafayette, and Velma Hanks and her husband, Carl of Lafayette; her 12 grandchildren; and her 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alcide Boudreaux, Sr.; her mother, Olivia Berthelot Boudreaux; her granddaughter, Stephanie Champagne Herbsleb; her grandson, Kevin Champagne; her brothers, Antoine, Aldes, Emile, Mayer, Lawrence, Lazin and Alcide Boudreaux, Jr.; and her sisters, Josephine Latiolais, Emilie Douet, and Antoinette Boudreaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be recited by Rev. Edward Degeyter at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Champagne, Gerald Champagne, Charlie Champagne, Jesse Champagne, Robert Cassidy, and Carl Hanks.
