St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2011, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Marie Alice 'Poon' Tom, 92, who passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Iberia Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.Rev. Augustinus Seran, Pastor of Notre Dame Catholic Church will conduct the services. Gift Bearers will be Verna Garrett and Joanna Slaughter. Survivors include two nephews, David Etienne of St. Martinville and Alyson Tom of Parks; and five nieces, Verna Garrett and husband, Joe, of Maryland, Margaret Savoy and husband, Willie, of St. Martinville, Kathleen Guidry and husband, William, of St. Martinville, Joanna Slaughter of Dallas, TX, and Jennifer Tom of Parks. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Tom, Sr. and Mary Turpeau Tom; a brother, Albert Tom, Jr.; sister, Tellamay Tom Etienne; sister-in-law, Vivian W. Tom; brother-in-law, Louis Etienne, Sr.; niece, Jane Etienne; and two nephews, Billy and Louis Etienne, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 7 a .m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Byron Savoy, Kevin Etienne, Shawn Slaughter, Corey Savoy, Theron Savoy , and William Guidry, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be David Etienne, Alyson Tom, William Guidry, Sr., Willie Savoy, and Joe Garrett. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
