Mark A. Broussard

New Iberia - Mark Anthony Broussard, Sr., 69, was called home to the Lord on August 19, 2026, and entered into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of deep faith, generous service, and unwavering devotion to his family. An extraordinary man whose kindness touched countless lives, Mark will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful servant of God, trusted mentor, and true friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue Monday, from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Sunday.

The third-born child of Joyce Mazerole Broussard and John Gilton Broussard, Mark grew up on the family farm in Bayou Jack. There, he learned at a very young age the value of hard work, perseverance, and resilience—qualities that would define him throughout his life. His mother nurtured his strong Catholic faith and his enduring devotion to Jesus and the Blessed Mother.

That faith remained the foundation of his life and guided the way he loved and served others. Mark married his high school sweetheart, Linda Babineaux Broussard, and together they raised three children—Jeremy, Mark Jr., and Jenee. He guided his children with steady love and firm values, instilling in them the importance of education, integrity, dedication, and doing every job well. To his children, he was their Superman—a strong and dependable protector who always looked after the people he loved.

Mark’s six grandchildren were the light of his life. Their “Pappy” cherished every moment spent with them, whether offering advice, sharing stories, or simply enjoying their presence. To his grandchildren, he was a constant source of love, encouragement, wisdom, and laughter, and he took tremendous pride in watching them grow and in celebrating their accomplishments.

During his remarkable 39-year career with Chevron, Mark’s work took him from the Gulf of Mexico to the shores of Brazil, where he completed a long-term assignment before retiring. Although he never had the opportunity to attend college himself, Mark believed deeply in the power of education. He generously shared the knowledge and experience he gained throughout his career, taking special pride in mentoring young engineers and interns and helping them find their way.

Among his nine siblings, Mark was the steady rock—a calm, thoughtful presence who could be counted on in any situation. A natural problem solver, he was always searching for the “root cause” of things and rarely encountered a problem he was unwilling to tackle. He especially enjoyed his weekly Chinese food lunches with his brothers Gil and Brian, where, over a shared meal, they could laugh together and solve all the world’s problems.

Mark never met a stranger. He treated everyone with kindness and dignity, regardless of who they were or their status in life. He was generous with his blessings, his time, and his knowledge. If someone needed help, Mark was there—and if something was broken, he was determined to find a way to fix it. In these quiet acts of generosity and service, he lived out the faith he held so dear.

Mark had an especially tender heart for those searching for a second chance. He welcomed people in need of a fresh start—those who had fallen on difficult times or simply needed someone to believe in them. Without judgment, he offered encouragement, guidance, and practical help as they worked to get back on their feet. He recognized the God-given worth of every person and showed Christ’s love through compassion, mercy, and service.

Some of Mark’s happiest moments were spent boating, fishing, standing over a full barbeque pit, and relaxing with family and friends at his camp on Toledo Bend. Music and dancing always brought a smile to his face. Whether he was listening to Van Morrison, ZZ Top, or anything with a Zydeco or Blues beat, he would close his eyes, sway his head, and feel the music in his soul. At most celebrations, he could be found right in the middle of the dance floor, showing off what everyone agreed were the best dance moves.

At home, Mark found joy in life’s simple routines. He could often be found each morning feeding his backyard birds, a quiet ritual he cherished. In the evenings, he would wind down watching Newsmax with a bowl of butter pecan ice cream, content in the comfort of a day well lived. Those who knew Mark will forever remember his warmth, his welcoming nature, and his wonderfully infectious laugh—one that rose from deep in his belly and filled every room.

Mark fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. His life was a testament to faith, family, hard work, generosity, and the belief that everyone deserves kindness and another chance. While Mark’s family grieves his passing, they are grateful for the gift of his life and take comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into his eternal home.

Left to carry on Mark’s legacy are his wife, Linda Babineaux Broussard; son, Jeremy and his wife Catherine; son, Mark Jr. and his wife Carolyn; daughter, Jenee and her husband Marcus; granddaughter, Emily Anne Broussard; five grandsons, Ethan, Eric, Matthew, Wesley and Murphy Broussard; four brothers, Gil, Brian, David, and Paul Broussard; three sisters, Lucille Walker, Susan Broussard, and Johanna Landry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Mazerole Broussard; father, John Gilton Broussard, Sr.; sister, Emily Theresa Broussard; brother, Steve Girard Broussard; sister-in-law, Lea Esponge Broussard; and brother-in-law, Richard Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Broussard, Mark Broussard, Jr., Marcus Broussard, Ethan Broussard, Eric Broussard, Matthew Broussard, Wesley Broussard, and Murphy Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Gil Broussard, Brian Broussard, David Broussard, Paul Broussard, Wilton Walker, and Ricky LeBlanc. Gift bearers will be Lanie Boyle, Jacob Broussard, and Gabrielle Landry.
