Marlene Bailey Melancon, was born in Greenville, PA, on June 7, 1959, to the late Joseph and Mary Young Walsh. She was a beloved soul who touched the hearts of many. Marlene had a zest for life that was truly infectious. Her passions included crocheting intricate patterns and indulging in crafts that showcased her creativity. Marlene lovingly made Halloween costumes for her children year after year when they were young. Always on the go, she found solace in movement and exploration, never one to be confined by the walls of home.
A connoisseur of simple pleasures, Marlene had a fondness for sweet tea. Her trusty vape was a constant companion, providing moments of solace and reflection. And anything adorned with Tweety Bird never failed to bring a smile to her face.
Marlene found joy in gardening, and playing cards, especially Bourrée and Cadillac. She also loved her dog, fishing and raising birds, but above all else, what Marlene cherished most was precious time she shared with her grandchildren. Their laughter and smiles were the light of her life.
Ms. Melancon is survived by four children, Jennielynn McClimans (Jackie), Mary Derouen (Shane), George Bailey, and Amanda Holliday (Jody); former husband, Tommy Melancon; siblings, Louise Stierly, John Walsh (Tammy) and Angela Renee Nicholson (Michael); grandchildren, Spencer Ransom (Kayla), Zachary Mouton, Jillian Derouen, Dexter Derouen, John Broussard, Samantha Leonard, Alyssa Bailey, George Bailey Jr., Devin Bailey, Ryan Holliday, Blaine Holliday, Jacob Holliday, Damien Cornett, Autumn Cornett, and Isaiah Holliday; great-grandchildren, Skylar Mouton, Evren Derouen, Elliot Derouen, Scarlett Holliday, Liam Ransom, Khloe Ransom; and two more on the way, Zaniya Hunter and Jasmine Holliday.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Raymond Stierly.
Though Marlene may no longer walk among us, her vibrant spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
