Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge for Mary Ella Bourque Castille, 91, who passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 in Lafayette, surrounded by the family she dearly loved and cherished.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 3:00 pm.

Pastor Charles Waltman and Pastor Joey Dugas will officiate at the Funeral Service. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1.

A long-time resident of Breaux Bridge, Mary Ella filled her home with love, laughter, and the delightful aroma of her renowned cooking, earning the affectionate title as the "Queen of Fudge."

As a dedicated homemaker, Mary embraced her role with grace and creativity. She was a member of various organizations, including the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, and the Pink Ladies. Through these groups, she cultivated lasting friendships and joyfully contributed to her community. Mary's compassionate spirit extended well beyond her family, as she had an exceptional gift for making everyone feel accepted and loved unconditionally.

Mary was a woman of faith and a woman who believed in and reverenced the one true God of His Word. She always trusted that no matter the trials and challenges of life, the Lord would help her through them all and He never failed to prove that to be absolutely true. When she opened her heart's door to the One who saved her by His sacrifice on the cross, she came to understand that the meaning and purpose of life was found in a living, personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. She was a beautiful witness for her Lord!

Mary found fulfillment in the simplest of pleasures: spending time with her beloved family, tending to her yard, crocheting, and eagerly watching pageants. Traveling brought her immense joy, and she cherished the memories made on those adventures. She had a unique talent for feeding others, always ensuring that everyone was well-nourished and happy. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Castille and Ricky Castille (Sharon); daughters, Judy Robinson (Lee), Brenda Patin, Melissa Wood (Howard) and Angela Castille; brother-in-law, Fred Coy; grandchildren, Holly Sawyer, Jeff Robinson, Jerry Robinson, Joey Robinson, Chris Guidry, Michael J. Castille, Ira Patin, Barrie Huval, Ali Wood, Austin Wood, Dillon Jackson, Hannah Branson, Aidan Breaux, Shawn Calvit, II, Chandler Calvit and Tyler Pellerin; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph "Bill" Castille; parents, Amos Bourque and Agnes Hebert Bourque; brothers, Valerie, Alton, AJ and Calvin Bourque; sisters, Rita Mayes and Gladys Barras Coy; sons-in-law, Mark Travis Sawyer and Whit Patin; grandson, John Severin Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Sawyer, Harper Lane Huval and Finnley Grace Huval.

Pallbearers will be Michael J. Castille, Ira Patin, Shawn Paul Calvit, II, Austin Wood, Chandler Calvit and Tyler Pellerin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael R. Castille, Ricky Castille, Lee Robinson, Howard Wood, Fred Coy, Ory Huval and Aidan Breaux.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Neurology Floor, as well as the doctors and staff at The Carpenter House.
