Mary Alice Goodie Lewis

Cecilia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Mary Alice Goodie Lewis, 59. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Mary Alice, the middle child of Joseph Boston Goodie and Azama Goodie, was born in Lafayette, LA on June 17, 1954. Beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, sister and friend, entered life on Sunday, June 15, 2014. She was married to Ernest Lewis. Their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters; Sedonia Lewis Girard and Sasha Lewis. Mary Alice was proud of her children and grandchildren, and their accomplishments. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to family; her warmth, compassion, kind words, deeds, and warm smile. She was always willing and ready to reach out and touch others in a helpful way. She was an excellent cook. She was famous for her Sunday meals, cakes and pies. She was also famous for her finger-licking Chess Pie. She loved shopping, ordering kitchen gadgets from QVC, spending time with her kids and grandkids, and vacationing. Mary Alice was a hard worker. She enjoyed working, even though some days she felt tired and weary, she still managed. She worked for Martin Mills and Stage. Mary was also a faithful Sales Associate of Conns Appliance. She enjoyed working and putting a smile on peoples faces. Surviving to her celebrate her life is her husband, Ernest Lewis; and her daughters, Sedonia Lewis Girard (Peter Girard Jr.) and Sasha Paige Lewis; four grandchildren, Epiphane Breeze Girard, Jurnee Alise Girard, Lundyn Angel Girard, and Landon Boston Girard, all of Cecilia; her parents, Joseph Boston Goodie and Azama Soloman Goodie of Breaux Bridge; her cousin, Mona Gordon of Cecilia, who was reared as a sister; her mother-in-law, Georgia Lewis of Cecilia; four sisters-in-law, Geraldine Goodie, Jacklyn Goodie, Sara Goodie, and Patsy Zenon all of Breaux Bridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Valsin and Sedonia Soloman; paternal grandparents, Jean Batiste and Adelmae Goodie; three brothers, Alton, Melvin, and Shelton Goodie; her sister, Velma Goodie; a nephew, Quinton Goodie; and a niece, Kaylen Goodie. Pallbearers will be Scory Demouchet, Cashia Demouchet, Demetrius Goodie, Jared Goodie, Kevin Goodie, and Christopher Goodie.
