Mary Milazzo Marks

St. Martinville A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 pm, on Friday, February 21, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Mary Milazzo Marks, 69, who passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue at 7:00 am until 3:00 pm on Friday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Thursday. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Maude Lightcap. Gift Bearers will be JoAnne Amy and Lucille Champagne. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the choir and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She always provided nursing care to her family and friends and volunteered at St. Martinville Nursing and Rehabilitation, serving cookies and coffee. Mary enjoyed singing, cooking and sewing. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Marks; three daughters, Angie Marie Marks Dekerlegand and husband, Dennis, Lisa Ann Marks, and Kimberly Ann Marks; two brothers, Salvador Paul Milazzo and Joseph Milazzo, Jr. and wife, Alberta Abshire Milazzo; three sisters, Frances Milazzo Prados, Betty Milazzo, and Janice Milazzo Hayek and husband, Charles; and two grandchildren, Sophie and Brandon Dekerlegand. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Milazzo, Sr. and Rosalie Capritto Milazzo; her brother, Vincent Milazzo; paternal grandparents, Charles and Maria Lanza Milazzo; and maternal grandparents, Salvatore and Frances Rumore Capritto. Pallbearers will be Simon Marks, Dennis Dekerlegand, Salvador Milazzo, Joseph Milazzo, Sr., Steven Lightcap, and Kimberly Marks. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Helen Anthony and Lori Schiesser, and Hospice Compassus, especially Karen, Gwen, and Lea.
