Mary Gale Mayer

Arnaudville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church honoring the life of Mary Gale Mayer, 80, who passed away on September 18, 2026 at Opelousas General Hospital.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Arnaudville on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until service time.

A rosary will be prayed by the Ladies Alter Society at 6:30 PM on Monday.

Rev. Brian Taylor will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Matthew Mayer and Stephanie Pitre. Gift bearers will be Mallory Gresko and Addie Thibodeaux.

Burial will follow at St. John Francis Regis Mausoleum.

Mary was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. Her unwavering love and commitment were evident in everything she did, as she poured her heart into her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

As a devoted member of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, Mary found strength and community in her faith. She shared countless fond moments at "their" table in Myron's with her husband Ralph, and she found joy in watching game shows and the Cooking Channel, which reflected her lively spirit. Known for her loving, feisty, and humorous personality, Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Ralph Mayer; children, Charlotte Lalonde (Bennett), Sherry Wyble (Paul), Donovan Mayer (Doris), Troy Mayer (Terri) and John Mayer; grandchildren, Jared Lalonde, Addie Thibodeaux, Mallory Gresko, Stephanie Pitre, Matthew Mayer, Luke Mayer, Connor Mayer and Tyler Mayer; 6 great grandchildren and one on the way; and her sister, Margaret Bruce.

She is preceded in death by her father, Gerard Quebedeaux; mother, Vivian Rogers; sister, Yvonne Quebedeaux; brother, Stephen Quebedeaux.

Pallbearers will be Donovan Mayer, Troy Mayer, John Mayer, Jared Lalonde, Matthew Mayer and Connor Mayer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Wyble and Bennett Lalonde.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Bienvenu, Casey, Louise, Olivia and the entire staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Lauren and the Staff of Nursing Specialties for their of care, compassion and kindness. Special thanks to the emergency room staff of Opelousas General and Louisiana Hospice for her care in her last days, and a sweet thanks to her friend Sandra Laporte for her thoughtful daily inspirations and prayers.
