St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Notre Dame Catholic Church honoring the life of Mary Milda Lewis, 77, who passed away on May 2, 2025 at her residence in St. Martinville.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:45 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM on Saturday.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD will officiate at the funeral mass. The reader will be Shelly Robertson. Gift bearers will be Christine Robertson, Charlotte Milson and Carol Colomb.
Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Mausoleum.
Mary was born on October 9, 1947, in Saint Martinville. Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed playing Bingo, often gathering with friends and family, where she earned her title of "Bingo Queen." She cherished trips to the casino with her husband and had a special fondness for popsicles, which also earned her the nickname of "Popsicle Queen." Known for her remarkable cooking, Mary brought happiness to many through her delicious meals. She loved her family dearly and the memories they shared with her will always be remembered.
She is survived by her husband, Horace Lewis; children, Bryan Lewis (Stephanie) and Angella Hunter (Les); grandchildren, Brieana Stone, Ashton Cyprien, RaShaad Stallworth, Derrick Stallworth, and Tiffany Danielczyk; five great grandchildren; and her sisters, Mildred Francis (Harry) and Elise Journet.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Wiltz, Sr. and Bernadette Davis Wiltz; brothers, Louis Wiltz, Jr. and Gilbert Wiltz; and sister, Millie Wiltz Alfred.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Lewis, Rodney Francis, Ryan Francis, Mitchell Louis, Ashton Cyprien, and Perry Robertson, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be June Narcisse, Mark Wiltz, Maxie Mitchell, Keith Journet, Sidney, Journet and Jerry Mitchell.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her NSI Palliative team, Lacey, Ryan, Tiny and Tamika, Miles Perret, Phil and Friends, Dr. Philippe Prouet and staff, Dr. Norman and his staff at Oaks Street Health, Dr. Kathryn Duplantis and staff, and Pellerin Funeral Home for all the wonderful care given to Mary.
