New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Mary Cartimiglia Polk, 93 who died Saturday, April 10, 2010 in New Iberia. ; Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. ; Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. ; A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Polk was a retired teacher, having taught for over 28 years in Iberia Parish. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Survivors include son, Ivan Polk and wife Phyllis of New Iberia; brother, Samuel Cartimiglia and wife Barbara of New Iberia; sister, Angie Ariola of New Iberia; grandsons, Gerald Jones Polk, Robert Polk and wife April; great grandchildren, Emily Alexis Polk, Skyler Grace Polk; godchild, Gail Broussard Ackal of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Joyce Cartimiglia of New Iberia; several nieces and nephews. ; She was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Red Polk; a son, Daniel Danny Polk; parents, Sam and Angelina Picarraro Cartimiglia; brother, Louis Cartimiglia; sisters, Josie Broussard, Bessie Williams. ; Pallbearers will be Sammy Ariola, David Broussard, Phil Cartimiglia, Sammy Cartimiglia, Dale Cartimiglia, Dane Cartimiglia, and Kyle Cartimiglia. Honorary pallbearers include Gerald Polk and Robert. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday.
