Maudrey Delahoussaye Blanchard

New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 Monday, August 11, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for Maudrey Delahoussaye Blanchard, 91, who died Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Msgr. Keith DeRouen will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. Mrs. Blanchard was born on September 9, 1922 to Rene and Elizabeth Dwyer Delahoussaye. Affectionately known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Memaw, she was a kind, loving, gentle, strong, selfless, faithful, and joyful person. Mrs. Blanchard loved cooking for her family every day, especially on Sundays for lunch at Memaws. Everyone loved her desserts, especially her chocolate chip cookies. Survivors include her sons, Wayne P. Blanchard and wife Karen of New Iberia, John Michael Mike Blanchard and wife Janet, of New Iberia, Chris J. Blanchard and wife Angela of New Iberia, Gregory D. Blanchard and wife Melanie of New Iberia; sisters, Mona Delahoussaye Menard of Abbeville, Marion Delahoussaye Angelle of Breaux Bridge; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calley J. Blanchard; brothers, Allen Delahoussaye, Ernest Bin Delahoussaye; sisters, Josephine Jo L. Broussard, Mabel D. Smith, and Hazel D. Tullier. Pallbearers will be Wayne P. Blanchard, John Michael Mike Blanchard, Chris J. Blanchard, Gregory D. Blanchard, Ron Zachary Zak Blanchard, John Michael Boomer Blanchard, and Jordy D. Blanchard. Honorary pallbearers include Glenn Michael Angelle, David Livingston, John Menard, and Chris Payton The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Sagrera, Dr. Langlinais, Dr. Ditch, the entire staff at Iberia Medical Center, Kent Champagne, and Evelyn Smith for their extra ordinary care and compassion.
