Melba Mae Landry Albert

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 1, 2022, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Melba Mae Landry Albert, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at her residence.

 

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in St. Martinville from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday.

 

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Friday.

 

Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be John Hebert and Jacques LeBlanc, Jr.

 

Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.

 

Melba was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. Melba cherished her time spent with her sisters and children; they meant the world to her. In her younger years, she loved spending time at the camp with her husband, fishing, and playing cards and Pokeno. Melba was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Joan Cormier (Edward), Terry Hebert (Raymond), Glenda LeBlanc (Jacques) and Jennifer Ebarb (Kevin); grandchildren, Ryan Albert, Derek Albert (Desiree), Jacob Albert, Brandon Hebert, John Hebert (Meghan), Josh Hebert, Elliot Cormier, Jacques LeBlanc, Jr. (Haley), Lane Smith, Logan Smith, Jade Cormier (James), Madia Doucet (Devin) and Megan Albert; 9 great-grandchildren; and brother, John Landry (Tina).

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel Joseph Albert; son and daughter-in-law, Curry and Vickie Albert; parents, John Landry and Inez Castille Landry; and sisters, Verna Begnaud, Florette Courville, and Mary Hardy.

 

Pallbearers will be Ryan Albert, Jacob Albert, Brandon Hebert, John Hebert, Josh Hebert, Jacques LeBlanc, Jr., Lane Smith, and Logan Smith.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Albert and Elliot Cormier.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Melba's name to St. Joseph Hospice at https://www.stjosephhospicefoundation.org/donations.php.
