Melba Thibodeaux

Catahoula- Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. , on Monday, June 13, 2011 , at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Melba Bourque Thibodeaux, 76, who passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011 at her residence. Fr. Richard Fabre will conduct the services. Reading the scriptures will be Bethany Thibodeaux Babineaux and Bonnie Laperouse Thibodeaux. Gift bearers will be Lacy Bernard, Ashley Bertrand, Cori Bertrand and Allison Bertrand. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula. Melba was a member of the Home Demonstration Club since 1957 and Catahoula Ladies Altar Society, cooking weekly for the Pastors of St. Rita Church. Melba was retired from her bakery, 'Melba's Bakery', where she made the freshest pastries and her own homemade bread. She enjoyed sewing dresses for her grandkids and great-grandkids. Most of all she enjoyed cooking for her family every weekend. In addition, 'Mom' as she enjoyed being called, enjoyed playing 'Wahoo' with her sisters and friends, completing crossword puzzles, word searches and sudoku. Mom was the matriarch of the family and will be greatly missed by all. Survivors include her sons Keith Edward Thibodeaux and his wife, Bonnie Laperouse Thibodeaux and Brian Gerard Thibodeaux all of St. Martinville; her daughter, Lisa Ann Thibodeaux Bernard and her husband, Lonnie Bernard of St. Martinville; her brother, Michael Bourque and his wife, Tina Lasseigne Bourque of St. Martinville; her sisters, Doris Bourque Boutte, widow of Carol Boutte, Juanita Bourque Usie and her husband, John, Myrtle Bourque Huval and her husband, Teddy and Elaine Bourque Soileau and her husband, David, Sr.; her grandchildren, Lacy Bernard, Shantell Bernard Primeaux, Amber Bernard, Bethany Thibodeaux Babineaux, Seth Thibodeaux, Gavin Thibodeaux and Kailey Thibodeaux; and her great-grandchildren, Ashley Bertrand, Cori Bertrand and Allison Bertrand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eddie Thibodeaux; her father, Dozita Bourque; her mother, Lorena Verret Bourque and her sister, Alice Bourque Theriot. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall in Catahoula from 11 a .m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 7 a .m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Jake Primeaux, Ryan Melancon, Cory Babineaux, Seth Thibodeaux, Gavin Thibodeaux and Frank Geisler. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Thibodeaux and Keith Thibodeaux. Pellerin Funeral Homeof BreauxBridge is in charge of arrangements.
