Merlin was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a cherished godfather, and a true friend to so many. His life was rooted in family-he lived for them, loved deeply, and gave of himself without hesitation.
He was known for his kindness and wit, and he often enjoyed sharing a surprising fun fact from his younger years: before beginning his long career with Slemco, Merlin attended Barber College and spent a brief time as a barber. It was a reflection of his personable nature-someone who connected easily with others and took pride in honest work.
Fishing brought him peace, but nothing brought him more joy than time spent with those he loved-especially his granddaughter, who held an extraordinarily special place in his heart.
By his side through so many days was his trusted four-legged companion, Boss. Their bond was a quiet, constant friendship-one built on loyalty, comfort, and companionship.
Merlin dedicated many years of his life to a long and successful career with Slemco, where he earned respect through hard work, integrity, and genuine care for others. Over the years, colleagues became friends, and his name became one that people trusted.
Above all else, Merlin was loyal. He was true. He was love. And that love will continue to live on in the heart of all who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Karen Landry Alleman; son, Parker Alleman (Alida); daughters, Sonya Alleman and Kacy Alleman; granddaughter, Marlowe Alleman; sister, Betty Spell (Robert); godchildren, Dwayne Broussard, Cory Spell, Jason Broussard and Mendie Hawkes; and best fur friend, Boss.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curlis and Hazel Alleman; sister, Glenda Dubois; and parents-in-law, Patrick and Susan Landry.
Pallbearers will be Jeramie Hebert, Cory Spell, Dwayne Broussard, Shawn LeBlanc, Kenneth Landry and Jason Broussard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Parker Alleman, James LeBlanc, Michael Broussard and Robert Spell.
