St. Martinville - Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., on Friday, February 11, 2011, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville, for Michael Salvatore Capritto, Sr., 84, who passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at his residence. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Pastor Jacob Aranza and Father Austin Leger will officiate at the funeral service. Mr. Capritto lived to work and always kept busy. He was retired from the St. Martin Parish School District , where he worked as a Bus Driver for 30 years, while also being a full-time farmer, even after his retirement. In his free time he enjoyed numerous hobbies which consisted of mending broken fences, digging ditches, and repairing old structures and barns. Survivors include his beloved wife and the love of his life for the past 56 years, Josephine Picard Capritto of St. Martinville; two sons, Michael Capritto, Jr. and his wife, Melanie L., and Jimmy Capritto and his wife, Deana; one daughter, Elaine Capritto Roy and her husband, Eric; one brother, Charles Capritto and his wife, Margaret; one sister, Josephine Hollier, all of St. Martinville; and seven grandchildren, Katie Capritto, Laurie Capritto, Erica Roy, Danielle Capritto, Nicole Capritto, Brooke Capritto, and Tristin Delcambre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Francesa Rumore Capritto; his brother, Ross Capritto; and two sisters, Frances Governale and Rosalie Milazzo. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday by Father Ed Degeyter. Pallbearers will be his sons, Michael and Jimmy Capritto, Eric Roy, Salvatore Milazzo, Patrick Capritto, and Raymond Delahoussaye.
