Mildred 'Meyo' Devillier Calais

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Mildred " Meyo" Devillier Calais, 95, who passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Neil Pettit will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Tanna and Stephanie Guidry. Gift bearers will be Thessa Young and Chelsea Thomas. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia. Mildred was beloved by her family. She is one of the last great Cajun cooks who loved to cook for large family get-togethers. Meyo is known for her potato salad, chow-chow, and jalapeno dip. She created many recipes that were used in her former business, Webster's Meat Market. Meyo enjoyed playing Pokeno, playing soliatire, and watching her favorite show, "the Wheel." She never missed her weekly hair appointment at the beauty shop with Mrs. Jeannie. Meyo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn C. Guidry and husband Carrol; grandchildren, Teal Guidry and spouse Stephanie, Tara Guidry, Thea Duhon and spouse Kenneth, and Thessa Young; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Thomas and spouse Ty, Hunter Guidry, Tanna Guidry, Terran Duhon, and Ashton Young; and one great-great grandchild due on her birthday. She was preceded in death by husband, Webster "Shookta" Calais; parents, Walter and Estelle LeBlanc Devillier; son, Marshall Calais; sister, Lena Hebert; and brother, Raymond Devillier. Pallbearers will be Teal Guidry, Hunter Guidry, Terran Duhon, Ashton Young, Steve Hebert, and Kenneth Duhon. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Young and Ty Thomas.
